Agnieszka Jagodzińska is Assistant Professor at the Department of Jewish Studies at the University of Wrocław, Poland. Her main academic interest is the history of Jewish religion and culture in the 19th century. She is author of the award-winning monograph, ‘Pomiędzy’. Akulturacja Żydów Warszawy w drugiej połowie XIX wieku, (‘In-between’. Acculturation of Warsaw Jews in the Second Half of the 19th Century) (2008) and several articles on Jewish cultural studies in, amongst others, ‘Gal-Ed’, ‘East European Jewish Affairs’, ‘Jews in Russia and Eastern Europe’, ‘Pinkas’, ‘Studia Judaica’ and ‘Polin’ (forthcoming). She has received scholarships from the Hebrew University, Jerusalem; the government of the UK (Chevening scholarship); Center for the Studies of Culture and History of East European Jewry, Vilnius; de Brzezie Lanckoroński Foundation and others. Currently she is working on the topic of the English Christian mission to the Polish Jews.
